For my final project, I created a wiki to begin a website that my students and I can use throughout the school year. The web address is https://lhallswiki.wikispaces.com/. Our school system does not currently offer teacher webpages, but we are told we will be getting them soon. I created the homepage on glogster.com/edu. I had a lot of fun creating a whimsical look using bright colors and many images. I then created pages on my wiki that I linked to the icons on the glogster. Most of my students have trouble with math once they get home and nost do not have resources to go to for math help, so I created a Math Talk Blog. Students will ask questions and be able to respond to each other in an ongoing chat. I will also make it my duty to check it out at least once a day and make suggestions when needed. The homework links will be easy for me to update since I just copy and paste them from my notes that are already typed in WORD. I am not really impressed with the way I have the notes set up. Right now they will only be able to access one note at a time. I think when I go back to my school I will change that link to a place on the school’s shared dive so that the students can access my files of notes from on campus computers. I also created a help link that goes to hippocampus.org. This website has awesome tutorials for students wanting to read independently and get answers immediately. I think that my webpage is a work in progress and something that I will really use next year. I can see other teachers accessing my site to get ideas and give me feedback on what they are doing different from me. We could have other teachers and students commenting on the Math Talk Blog. I will also add calendars and links to the syllabus for next year when I get those ready for next year. The tennis information might be better as a blog as well with the team able to ask questions and post comments to each other. I also think that the wiki style is not as useful as some websites I have seen. In order to go back, you must click on Home on the left hand side of the page. Also, the wrapper does not allow the whole glogster to be seen when initially entering the site. You must scroll down to see everything. I do have room for improving my site, but think I am off to a great start. It is much better than the webpage I did not have before. I know that my students will appreciate and use this site. Many of them complained last year about not having access to homework assignments and access to help from home.
